The 4C Standard

The 4C Standard is the measurement framework behind every TISSA recommendation, artifact, and decision. It evaluates brand health across four principles: Clarity, Coherence, Consistency, and Control. Each principle is scored on a 1-5 scale.

Clarity (C1) means everyone can state what the brand is for, who it serves, and how it wins — without guessing. Coherence (C2) means strategy, voice, design, and behavior line up as a single logic chain. Consistency (C3) means the same things are done the same way every time, by everyone. Control (C4) means the brand can scale without drifting — roles are clear, approvals are fast, and changes are visible.

Scores are aggregated into a 4C Baseline Scorecard. Green (16-20 total) means eligible for the Quality Mark. Amber (11-15) means ship with a remediation plan within 30 days. Red (10 or below) means hold the release and schedule a governance reset.

Why it matters

The 4C Standard turns brand governance from a subjective conversation into a measurable discipline. It gives leadership a common language for evaluating brand health, makes progress trackable quarter over quarter, and sets a clear bar for Quality Mark certification.
